The Flexible Stem Magnetic Base A is typically used for metalworking and other projects requiring machinery. Magnetic bases makes the task of setting up workpieces in various types of machinery much easier. The vertical post and rod in the magnetic base are connected with swiveling snugs or connectors. This allows free motion of the arm  for easy positioning of the dial indicator on the workpiece. When the base is on, the iron acts as an extension of the magnet. When the base is off, the magnet prevents the magnetic field from extending through the base.
