Magnetic bases are fixtures used in metalworking to hold dial indicators and commonly used in optics. The Din Series Magnetic Bases makes setting up a workpiece in machinery such as milling machines and surface grinders. Swiveling connectors or snugs connect the vertical post and rod in the magnetic base, allow the arm to move freely for positioning the dial indicator on the workpiece. When the base is on, the iron acts as extension of the magnet. When it is off, the magnet acts as a keeper and prevents the magnetic field from extending through the base.
