Magnetic bases are mostly used in metalworking to hold dial indicators. Beam-Shaped Structure Magnetic Bases are useful tools for setting up workpieces in milling machines, surface grinders, or other machinery. When the base is on, the iron is acts as an extension of the magnet. When it is off, the magnet prevents the magnetic field from extending through the base. The vertical post and rod in the magnetic base connect using swiveling connectors or snugs. This allows free motion of the arm so that the dial indicator can be moved into position on the workpiece.
